Braided Rug Care and Maintenance
Braided rugs are a carefully handmade product, and need to be maintained to keep their beauty and functionality.
Unrolling - When the rug is new, let it flatten out naturally before use. Work out any wrinkles using your hands, starting from the center.
Floor Padding - Slip-resistant floor padding is strongly recommended to provide comfort, safety, and floor protection, as colors may transfer in a new rug. The use of a floor pad will also help improve your new rug’s longevity.
Care & Cleaning - All rugs require care to maintain their beauty and longevity. Vacuum regularly with the hard brush attachment of your vacuum. PLEASE DO NOT USE A BEATER BRUSH. Spills should be cleaned as soon as possible. Spot cleaning with mild soap and water is fine.
Braided Rug Repair
Separated Braids - Braided rugs are stitched together using extra strong thread. From time to time, threads will become damaged or cut and the braids may start to separate. When this happens it is recommended that the separated braids be sewn together with a needle and thread as soon as possible. If left unattended this separation will certainly grow.
Sprouts - Occasionally sprouts will appear in your rug. These are a natural by-product of the traditional method used to braid rugs. Use a sharp pair of scissors and simply trim the sprout even with the rug. Trim, never pull loose ends.
Due to the handcrafted nature of braided rugs, certain irregularities related to size, dye lots, etc. may be expected. These irregularities are not to be considered defects, but rather add to the charm and rustic appeal of the product.
